Almost Done with Paper Project

After painting and cutting all that paper, I finally find time to spray paint some extra little bits of detail. I often have people ask me about the papers in my hand made journals, so I decided to make a bunch of this paper and sell it in packages in my Etsy Shop. It was fun to make. I have never done this in a large quantity before. I will start packaging them up soon.

I will be posting some photos of how the packets come together. I hope people will like them as much as I do. It would be really cool if people bought them and then sent me pictures of what they made!
It was my Mom's birthday last week and I somewhere found time to make her a little gifttie. I like to make these little diorama-like things with my daughter in them for her. I love making them and they always seem to turn out pretty neat.
The sunsets and mornings have been so very beautiful lately. Here was a quick snapshot out my car's front window on the way to work.

Heart Troubles

In this small pink notebook I was drawing design ideas for my next hand carved stamp.I did these drawing Tuesday night. On Wednesday at 5pm as I clocked out from work, I noticed an odd feeling in my chest which caused me to start coughing a little. I walked down to my car and turned it on. I felt winded and my heart beat seemed too strong. I put my hand to my chest and felt my heart beat racing out of control.
I tried to relax and take deep breaths to try to slow it down. Dr Gunson was still upstairs, so I decided I would turn off the car and ask his opinion. He checked my pulse and took me to the other side for an EKG. My heart rate was humming along at 198 and went right up to 211. Scary. It was very even and rhythmic beats although fast. There wasn't any irraticness to it.

He made a call and we decided to go to the ER. He drove me and Nancy came with us (my Mom away from Mom). We arrived and I was emitted right away. My heart was still racing. They took me back to start an IV. After 1 hr with my heart racing out of control it came back down on its own, right before they were about to drug me all up.
No one can tell me why it happened, and I do not think it has happened since. I am still nervous, but appear to be fine. I cannot thank everyone enough for all their assistance, I mean....where do you start? I have seen a Dr since, but need to see a specialist. I am told everything (tests and sounds) were clear and healthy. I hope the 24 hour heart monitoring harness gives me more piece of mind.
Hey, but doesn't the new stamp look cool? I finally finished it today. If you are hearing this story for the first time, and thought maybe I should have told you face to face...sorry, I am not comfortable with it yet and hate to make people worry.

Slow Going

Pink Champagne Mimosa and a little inspiration from Yellow Owl Workshop.

Love this new stamp set and signets I got at Plum Goods in SB.

Made millions of little hearts on the base of my bird. Still a long way to go to achieve my vision for it.

I finally dumped my old computers for an awesome machine my boyfriend custom made me. So far it is quite awesome. I cannot wait to get to work on it!

More Paper

Here is some of the results from Thursday and ones I finished today. I plan on making a dozen or two more before I take the stack outside to add some spray paint textures. I have started work on making one of my paper mache birds into a Valentine theme for the Art is Not Math show coming up for the Art Clinic in February. I hope it gives me confidence to finish the others.
I am almost finished with a paper mache heart with a niche that I think is earmarked for a friend.
The last paper I painted today was a nice lavender and purple color. I cannot wait to ad the finishing touches and get them into the bags with some extra emphirma and get them into my Etsy shop. I hope everyone likes the color as much as me.

Started Some New Projects

Yummy colors and the rich feeling of paint being laid down = great way to start out a project. I am working on making embellished papers for kits and journals. I use old credit cards to get the color on fast, easy and thinly so they dry fast. I put on a mix of 2 to 3 varieties of one color and spread it around. After it dries I do the same to the other side and then cut them. I plan to spray paint some texture on them next. Maybe this weekend!

I just love paint and color! It was a nice accomplishment in a day with a few disappointments. Back to work tomorrow then some art project prospects for the weekend. I leave you (and me) with this photo I tried to snag out my car window of a totally epic sunset I saw.Happy New Year y'all!!!!

Christmas is Over...

Now onto the New Year!

Feel like I've been battling colds left and right! I have been too tired after work and Mommy time to fit in any Me time and that always throws me off balance. I keep thinking I will be better the next day and I can get work done then, but that next day has not come yet. Sometime this weekend I am determined to do something artsy! Even if it is just small. I want to sit at my desk, clean up and organize a bit, find an old project or idea that was buried and just have at it! I had wanted to stay up tonight and prep a bit, but I feel pretty tired, yet again!, and it is not looking good. I go to bed early, but then I have a bunch of strange dreams and wake up a lot (so has my daughter... Bad combo). So everyone make a little wish to the get-well-quick fairy for me and maybe I will have something nice to post on Monday.

I found some Thyme for Lemons

Preparing ingredients for some Lemon Thyme vodka drinks was not as hard as I thought, but the zest harvesting was a bit harder.

Making the thyme simple syrup was super easy. 1 cup water, 1 cup sugar, and 8 sprigs of fresh thyme. I boiled them till the sugar dissolved then let it cool. I filtered the liquid into a container and put it in the refrigerator.

I juiced 12 lemons and put the juice in the freezer. 2 cups of the lemon juice+1 cup vodka+1cup syrup=yummy and refreshing!

Then it took me a long time with a cheap knife to cut off the zest for an experiment I will start next week in alcohol making. If I had just prepped for the vodka drink, it would have been done in under an hour.

The zest took me an hour, but I am hopping it will be way worth it. Man! The zest sneers sooooooo good!! Whole process reminds me of my sister. Ever since our trip to Seattle last year to see her, I have wanted to make infused liquors. She is so me inspiration in all this. It is the Holidays and I miss her.
So glad the crunch season is over, now on to some new projects! I Better get to bed, still fighting this could I have had all vacation long....yuck!!

December Sketch Day at Classic Farms

What a wonderful place to visit! And a great place to sketch. It was a beautiful morning. Almost too warm in the sun at first and the dew was glistening in the sun. The clouds did roll in towards the end, bringing the cold with it.

The sketching was great, the company was great and the produce looked devinne! It was, yet again, the perfect start to the weekend.

I do like my sketches, but feel each one needs a little more. So glad so many of the group was able to come out. It was a tiny bit of a drive and a busy time of year, and yet 6 of us were out there with big smiles. I look forward to the next one January 21st. Now back to Christmas cards...have half made and still need to get them in envelopes and address them! They will be getting there the day of or maybe late :( I am too committed to quit though.

A Bit of Holiday Cheer

Good Holiday drinks, nice parties, a new tree, decorating the tree and someones epic front yard synced to music. I am already so tired! And I still need to work on my Christmas cards.....sigh. Hope the rest of the season is just as awesome as the last few weekends!

Here is a Little Picture Story about Autumn

Persimmon cookies! It does not truly feel like Fall without them. Makes me miss all our family get togethers.
