Getting Close on Some Pieces

Got the covers part way sewn on the 2 ROD journals. I just need to sew in the chipboard like stuff, stitch it all down, sew on the tie piece and sew in the signatures.

I love making the quilted like covers always makes me wonder why I haven't made a quilt.

Took my silver pieces for the bracelets to the tumbler today too. Just waiting for chain order to come in with jump rings and I might have some finished work on my hands.
I am so exhausted I will be heading to bed ASAP. I only wish I had the energy to start on my little bird tag things.

I Did Pretty Good

I got my bracelets pretty close to done. I just need to chem color and tumble. The bracelet charms are almost ready too so I am quite confident there will be bracelets at the Queen of Arts show. I had a few bumps getting to the journals, but I feel pretty good about them and where they are at. Hope to do some tomorrow.

I did sew my personal journal together too yay!

Thursday Art Day

Took the day off work to try and catch up on some art projects.

Got my coffee and my hopeful list of what to work on. It will probably be after 10 by the time I get there and have to leave around 3:30 to get baby. I keep thinking I should clean the kitchen and vacuum, but I really need to get the projects a kick start or it will be yet another epic art fail. Okay..... One swift kick and I am off to The Art Clinic to work myself silly. New post with my accomplishments to follow *fingers crossed*

I am so Official Now

Just started my etsy site. Nothing loaded yet, but I wanted to have it started so I can make moo cards for the Queen of Arts show! I guess I have to add an item before I get an official store front. I cannot wait to get home and see what I can add on there.

Getting My Smithing On

Soldered a bit, hammered a bit and got stones ready to make into cute pendants to hang on the bracelets.

I started these birds a while ago. I have big plans for them, but just want to finish them for Queen of Arts.

It did feel nice to warm up to my old work benches.

I just hope I can at least finish these 7 bracelets. I started these last year. There is a lot of hand work in them. Funny to think these used to be my easier, less complex pieces.

Nice Party

Tuesday after work we all went to a party to view a travel slide show of an awesome trip made to France, Bruges, and Amsterdam by a friend and coworker.

It was simply fabulous ! His house is beautiful and so inspiring in many different ways. I loved all of his art collection and various objects of interest. I love their taste. He is known for his cocktails and they did not disappoint! Super yummy cosmo!

And the views off his back porch was breathtaking. His kitchen has large windows with same view. I would just love to peel potatoes or wash dishes for hours just to stare at that view. It was a very needed break from my everyday stuff. Thank You Cliff and Jeff!

Working working

2 days of working on some new journals for the show. Not much to show for it.

Got organized and the insides finished for one journal.

I think I can get in two or 3 more. We'll see. I will try to solder a bit tonight.

A Little Bit of Rime to Solder?

Got back from an awesome Sunday trip with baby and family with high hopes of completing a quick solder job. Took some time to get it set up right only to find out my tank was empty. Awe man!
Heard my Sis and her hubby posted some fun pictures from their trip down under. Sure cannot wait to see the pics and hear all about it.

Refill needed

Mmmm mmm mmm coffee in my fluff mug.

Need a refill in my cup and my soul. I finished jewelry special order, but have much to do to prepare for Queen of Arts this year. I feel the unrealistic pressure of what is expected vs what I can produce. Guess I better hit it and get organized. Stay tuned to see works in progress and feel free to leave words of encouragement.

Insides of New Journal

Weee! I finished sewing pages and signatures together. Now I just need to make the cover.

I used paper I painted in Traci Bautista's class I took a few weeks back and paper I painted and paper my sister gave me last Christmas. All put together in the Remains of the Day style.

I put some paper I sprayed too. Not much room to write and draw, but I love it already.

I have a jewelry special order due soon. That is my next priority before I can start on cover. I am getting the knack,I think, on this ROD like journal process and finding times of pure enjoyment. Part of the key seems to be in laying things out on a specific order around the sewing machine. I am looking for a balance between over planning and unprepared and speed. I got more journals in process, let's see if it gets quicker.

Awesome

Worked on getting my next journal together. I am going for a different shape. I think this one will be finished fast due to me using a lot of arted on papers. It is also not as many pages as some. I just need to sew on some stuff and add some awesome findings my Sis gave me last year.

Almost done here

Here are some recent pictures from my everyday journal.

The blue on this page I did in Traci Bautista's class.

Here is a photo transfer of baby at the Bulldog.

Having a peachy king at daily grind.

Misc drawing.

Ok... I am posting more so far so good. I might even post again today.

Almost Done with a Batch of 5 Journals

I think these turned out well, they just look a bit sparse/empty without any real embelishments.

the turquiose one is my favorite, but I would pick up any of them for myself if they do not sell.
I just finished the first layer of sewing on the covers and added the tie strips today. I will have to photo the covers next. I have posted a bunch more pictures on my Flikr site.

Birthday Dinner

Joe took me to the super special, super ritzy Root 246 in Solvang for my Birthday. It was AWESOME!!!!!!!! Here we are having the yummy bread (blue corn bread was my fave). Even the water was special!
We got an appetizer that was 1/2 lobster tail and rock shrimp raviolis...Wow! The waiter poured some sort of broth over it after he set it down. It was the juices it had cookked in. The sause was so good you were tempted to drink it.
I got the chicken dish. Those are fuji apples on top and mashed potaoes undernieth. It was sooooooo good OMG!! I want it again and again!

I ate ever inch...minus the raisins and sprouts. I had to restrain myself from licking the plate.

The deserts we had were amazing too. Simple, yet way not simple. Pictures here is one of the samplers of their in house ice cream. It was peanutbutter and sea salt. There was chocolate in it too. I'd pay $25 for a half pint I tell you what!!
We then went back into the kitchen and met the chef. He signed my menu! It was such a perfect little birthday getaway!!

Travel Journal for a Friend

A friend at work went on a trip to Hawaii and asked if I could make her something like the journal I did for that on-line class I took.

I like the way it turned out. It did not take me near as long to make as the originals. I hope to find time to make more to sell at the Queen of Arts show this year. I am not sure if this is the year it will happen or not. Cannot think about it yet.

Pretty Day

I pass by these flowering trees every day on my way to work. I finally found a day to stop and grab a few pictures.
I wish I had had the time to cut some branches somewhere when they were just budding so I could put them in a vase and watch them bloom in my home. I love the way they make me feel. I have almost bought fake ones so many times, but it could never be the same.
By the time I could get to taking these pictures, the petels were starting to thim and the bright green leaf shoots were begining to show.

As the days went on (they are all gone now) I watched as the breeze gently blew all the blossoms away...sigh. Maybe next year I will get some branches to share the magic with my daughter.

New covers new journal

That is an odd and cryptic title. Kinda like a news article lol. I loved LE 's class and I am liking the new journal. I just changed the cover. Now I just need a picture to put in the window. I love looking at all the stickers. I flip through the pages a lot trying to find places for things and plan out the pages I want to cover up.

New back cover

I added a dunny package and a bunch more of my favorite stickers to the back cover. It was pink like the front. Not sure of the new covers work, but I like them.

Unfinished entry

One of the 1st entry in my new journal. Still needs some work on the photo. It needs a boarder of some sort. Maddie already drew on it a little.
