Another Month Gone...Bye April

Two paper mache birds so close to done. I really love making these. It is fun to pick a bird and tweak it a bit.

My sister gave my an online Mermaid Circus class with Teesha and Jane for my birthday and I am having a lot of fun with it.
I love the bits of color on the paper that is left over.

Here is my book coming together. I have a rough idea what I want to do, but we will see.

This one is based on my daughter. I drew it as she slept.
This one was inspired by Teesha's part of the class in collage. Not my comfort zone, but I am happy with it.

Sketch Day at Classic Organic Farms was a bunch of fun. Even my daughter got into it. Those strawberries she and grandpa picked were so yum!

Had a wonderful fancy Birthday dinner with My daughter and her dad at Root 246. The drinks were a highlight. My daughter enjoyed the couch they sat us at.
The big news is that I joined the Art Hus this month for real. I am now an active member and will be contributing on a regular basis! Very exciting! I have already added some more jewelry, paper clay tags, and stacking rings. I have a bunch of little projects in the works that will be making their way there soon so stay tuned!

Busy March

Hope everyone enjoyed their St Patrick's Day! I had fun making some simple felt pins for some friends. I also had a wonderful outdoor dinner at my mom's with corned beef and yummy potatoes.
A good friend of mine had a Birthday and I am pretty sure that composition books are her favorite journals, so I made her a cover for one. This was another one of my totally made up-with no plan patterns ;) I think it came out alright. It passed the fits-on-a-comp-book test.

Here was the finished cards I mailed out. Glycine envelopes are fun.

Tried to go on a hike on Figueroa Mountain with my daughter. We did not get far, but I think she had fun. The flowers were very beautiful. I know there was a bunch more just ahead, but my soon-to-be-5 year old was ready to go.

My mom and me had some fun making large rainbow puff pom poms out of tissue paper. They were a great alternative to balloons. My daughter loved them.

Solvang's flowers are doing their thing. It is hard not to stop and get some photos.
Here was the Birthday crown this year. My camera failed to capture any of the photos I took with her in it....so odd and sad. I also made her a little shadow box with a princess and a unicorn. I hope she likes it.

Hope you all had a fun Easter! Spring is a wonderful time. I am overflowing with inspiration yet I am too busy to express myself. I feel a new painting wanting out.

February Recap

Making some tiny loves for the 9 East crew. These were fun, they have a tiny safety pin on the back so you can wear them.
Made some cards for the Art Hus using my hand carved heart stamps. There are still some there if anyone wants a closer look. I am hoping to update my Etsy shop with these. I have a bunch of items waiting to get posted to my shop. I hope to focus more on my shop soon.
Finally colored my paper clay tags and sealed them with diamond coat. One more small step and they are ready to photo and add to my Etsy shop as well.
Had a few zoo visits. The lions were gorgeous this day. We watched them a long time. I wish I had my sketchbook with me.

My daughter's 5th birthday is this month, so I have a lot of work to do. You know I will have to make her a new crown. These were her invites.
My favorite coffee cup is on its last legs. The handle has broken off and there are cracks forming. time to start looking for my next cup. pancakes must mean it was the weekend. I am getting so much better at making them :)

January! It is already 2013

January is here and almost gone. I had a burst of project starts and then lost steam before completion. I have not lost the fight yet ;) Here are some stamps I am working on.

I am trying to make some stationary kits. I will use these stamps to make address labels and I hope to make some fun envelopes and paper to go with them. That project is on hold until I get some Valentine stuff finished.
These paper mache birds go \t some attention. I cannot wait to add their "plumage". My daughter beat me to it :) I love her work! These are also on hold until Valentine projects are done.

Note my daughter's intense concentration. I did not realize that all my Valentine work was photoed with my smart phone and I could not post them. They are on my FaceBook Art by Jill-o Page. I finished up some red enameled heart earrings for the Art Hus in Solvang and I am half way finished with some Valentine cards using my heart stamp I carved last year. I still have a pile of paper clay tag/ornaments that need some color and a gloss coat. So.... there you go. I have a few more projects lurking as well. I really want to get them all done so I can move on to newer stuff. I feel a bit buried in unfinished goods. Lets hope I can keep hammering away and get this stuff out there.

Holiday Road Trip

My Mom, my daughter and me all drove to Ashland Oregon to meet up with my sister to celebrate Christmas early (early=the true McCutcheon way). It was quite the snowy adventure on the way up. I think it took us 3 hours to go 15 miles at one point, but we made it and were very happy! Only wish we had a few more days to hang out.

Here was our happy snowman mascot on the dashboard. We were sure we would be running around in the snow in Ashland, but it was only a bit rainy. The sun even came out for a bit.

Oh my!! It was so great to be with my sister! My daughter thinks the world of her too. Her shirt says "Auntie Auntie Auntie" and I think that sums things up well. It was pure bliss to be there and we all cannot wait to do it again.

Even got some fancy coffees! So good! LE and Madison were the fashion trend setters. If only we could all be so put together. And that Living Papaya store was so awesome and inspirational. The Store called Prize was chock full of wonderful things. I got urges to copy it all!

Hard to believe I used to live here. I do not think there was ever this much snow in my short stay in Mount Shasta. We had to make a stop here to make the snowman we had talked up for days before the trip. I love the joyful expression my daughter wore the whole time as she experienced real snow for her first time.

Nice to be home and finally (on Christmas eve) I have the Holiday houses lit and set up. We even fit in making some chocolate chip cookies for Santa and found some carrots for the reindeer. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone!!!
